Awards season is among us and this weekend we were treated to the American Music Awards. The fashion theme of the night seemed to be sparkles, glitter, shine abounding! Black remained the colorstory of choice while we also saw pops of monochromatic bold colors such as red, pink, white and beyond. Silhouettes were varied and celebs continued their infatuation with texture.
Pink, Sabrina Carpenter and Carrie Underwood hopped on the fringe trend with different iterations ranging from dramatic to subtle. The glitter factor turned up with Anitta, Elie Goulding, Meghan Trainor, Mackenzie Porter, Joan Smalls, Dencia, and Roselyn Sanchez. We were also delighted to see the men up their sartorial game and experiment with their red carpet looks. Some donned a classic suit with minimal twists, while others scrapped the suit altogether and opted for a more relaxed style. But the most impactful looks, in my humble opinion, were the stunning styles in black and white. As Coco Chanel once said, “I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.” Becky G, Dove Cameron, Lionel Richie, Liza Koshy, Latto, Muni Long, and Niecy Nash all embraced this ethos, looking stunning and sophisticated.
The American Music Awards 2022 brought us a variety of looks, color stories, textures and beyond. The trends referenced were given a wide breadth that encompassed many different styles and tastes.
