Weekend Roundup

The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) held their annual awards show in New York City and the stars showed up in full force flexing their fashion styling muscles on the red carpet. There were various themes that kept popping up among the styling choices in which most seemed to work cohesively together.

The color palette saw neutrals in black, cream and metallics dominating most looks while every so often a solid pop of color look made its way down the line. Celebrities have been experimenting with both silhouette and textiles. The Kardashian-Jenner clan dressed in their iconic bodycon looks with Kim in a vinyl-esque Dolce and Gabbana, Kylie in a sculptural Thierry Mugler, Kendall in sequined white Khatie, Kloe in a bronze LaQuan Smith and Kris in Schiaparelli Couture. Diane Von Furstenburg turned heads, literally, with a DVF caftan sporting her own likeness. Christina Ricci delighted us in a lace and floral print Rodarte bias cut gown with exaggerated, embroidered shoulder pieces. And Vanessa Hudgens in Vera Wang giving a modern take on an Addams icon. There were cut-outs, sharp shoulders, varying hem lengths from mini to cathedral trains- a diversity of details that somehow all looked at home with one another.

With the CFDA Awards being the Oscars of the Fashion World, it is always intriguing and inspiring to see designers and their muses taking risks with color, texture, shape, form and with that in mind, this year's award show delivered!
